Creo Elements/Direct Sheet Metal is a special application for Sheet-Metal industries for the design and manufacture of sheet metal parts. It is also featuring a technology database and cost estimation capabilities. The system is based on Design for Manufacturability (DfM) philosophy and therefore warns intelligently the designer during the creation phase about the possible problems, thus helping the designer to create parts, which are correctly designed for the subsequent manufacturing.

To improve design productivity, this module provides an extended, powerful and intuitive design environment tuned for sheet metal design, for example:

  • Offset

  • Stamp

  • Hem

  • Bend

  • Lip

  • Fold and Unfold

  • Punch

  • Animation.

The automatic creation of bend and corner reliefs further reduces the team's workload.
The initial selection of a "manufacturing shop" ensures that only the preferred materials, tools, and processes available at that shop are recommended to the design team.

Main features:

  • Design ready-to-manufacture sheet metal parts in 3D
  • Embed sheet metal knowledge and preferred materials, and leverage pre-defined punch & stamp tools
  • Simulate folding and unfolding
  • Generate associative 2D flat patterns for manufacturing drawings
  • Perform cost estimation on sheet metal designs per manufacturing requirements
